Another Pant flop show; fans wonder about Goenka's reaction

Send Push

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had made headlines by signing Rishabh Pant for a record ₹27 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. However, based on his performances in the four matches played so far, it seems that the money may have gone down the drain.

After scoring 0 off 6 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC), 15 off 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and 2 off 5 vs Punjab Kings (PBKS), Pant once again underwhelmed—managing only 2 off 6 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Rishabh Pant's flop show continues

Pant fell cheaply once again, and it was another strange dismissal. The ball held its line on a length, and as he looked to tuck it away, he got a leading edge. The fielder at mid-off charged in, slid, and took a brilliant one-handed catch. MI skipper Hardik Pandya struck gold with that wicket—a massive blow for LSG.

As Pant trudged back to the pavilion after yet another underwhelming outing, fans couldn't help but speculate on how LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka might be reacting to his continued slump.

Fans react

Many took to X (formerly known as Twitter) sharing their thoughts and memes about Rishabh Pant's form. One said, "Hardik Pandya sends Rishabh Pant back where he belongs—the dugout! Another useless T20 innings from him. Maybe he should consider batting at 13 instead of 3."

Another said, "Rishabh Pant, with no skills, is the most expensive player of IPL 2025. He’s getting ₹27 crore from LSG. I haven’t seen a single good knock. He’s never won an IPL tournament, and now he’s not even part of the Indian team. And he just got out again as we speak."

One wrote, "Rishabh Pant has scored 0 vs DC, 15 vs SRH, 2 vs PBKS, and 2 vs MI — 19 runs in 4 innings so far in IPL 2025!"

Another stated, "27 minutes toh guzaarooo... 27 cr ka chuna laga diya Rishabh Pant ne Goenka ji ko".
