7th Pay Commission: Under the 7th Pay Commission, many types of allowances are given to the central government employees. One of these is the transport allowance for disabled people, which has now been doubled.
7th Pay Commission: There is a big news for the central government employees. The government has taken an important decision for some of its employees. Now the central employees falling under certain categories of disability will get transport allowance at double the normal rate. The Finance Ministry has asked all the ministries and departments to strictly follow this instruction.
They will get these facilities
In a recent office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, it has been clarified that a new list of categories of disability has been issued, amending the earlier instructions issued on September 15, 2022, under which double transport allowance will be given to the employees. According to the new order, employees falling under the following categories under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 will be entitled to this facility, provided other conditions are met:
Locomotor Disability: This includes people cured of leprosy, cerebral paralysis, dwarfism, muscular weakness and acid attack victims. It also includes spinal cord deformities and injuries. Apart from these, people who are blind or have low vision, those who have hearing problems, people whose speech is not clear or who have difficulty in talking, people suffering from learning disorders or autism spectrum, people suffering from mental illness and long-term neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease will also be entitled to this.
Blood-related Disabilities: Hemophilia, thalassemia, sickle cell disease.
Multiple Disabilities: This means people suffering from two or more of the above disabilities, such as people suffering from both deafness and blindness.
Why are these facilities necessary?
Disabled employees have to face many difficulties in their daily lives. Especially it is very difficult for them to travel for work. Doubling the transport allowance by the government is a big relief for these employees, which will not only provide them financial assistance, but will also encourage them to mingle in the society.
