Liam Payne watched TV and shared his plans for the day before
died in Buenos Aires, Argentina after falling from his hotel balcony. Police, firefighters and ambulances were seen outside of a hotel building after Liam tragically fell. A body was found in an internal patio of the hotel. City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti said he had fallen around 40 metres and suffered “severe injuries which were incompatible with life.”
Just hours before the news of his tragic death, the singer shared photos to his fans on Snapchat. It showed Liam sharing his food and detailed plans to play polo. He also filmed his girlfriend Kate Cassidy as they ate breakfast together. Liam said: "This is the breakfast table, just enjoying breakfast and coffee even though it's 1pm." He revealed they had been staying at their friend's home as Kate joked in the background they are "losers" for laying in.
In the clip, Liam said: "Today, we ride. I think I'm going to be playing polo again, which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks. Honestly, polo, out of everything I've ever done sports-wise, not that I'm taking up polo professionally, by the way, I'm just like, I had a go for some fun.
"It's so hard to do, number one. Number two, my back and my neck from swinging that hammer around, or mallet, I think it's called, if you're in the know, it's polo language." He later shared another clip where he filmed himself and said: "I look like the Joker, my hair's a bit cray-cray."
In another post, Liam filmed Kate and their dog watching Jimmy Carr on TV. He then posted a shirtless photo with Kate as they posed for a mirror selfie together. The singer admired a painting at his friend's house in another post as he revealed where he was staying. He said: "It's a lovely day here in Argentina. Yeah. It hurts a lot. It's very tough to do [play polo].
"But we're enjoying ourselves here at our lovely friend Gon's house. Shout out, Gon, wherever Gon is. Shout out, Gon. Big bad Gon." Liam showed himself looking at a painting of a tree and added: "I envy things like this, painting-wise. Once again, shot from the back. It's really beautiful. So yeah, that's what we're doing today." "This was the first wheel that was ever invented," Liam said as he showed an ornament inside the home.
In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."
