Send Push

Enzo Maresca will hope to continue his bright start at Chelsea when his side travels to Anfield to face Liverpool this weekend.

The Italian has sitting fourth in the table after his first seven Premier League games since replacing Mauricio Pochettino but faces his toughest test so far when they

But you already knew that, didn't you? Here, football.london looks at the latest Chelsea news ahead of the Premier League's return to action this weekend.

Chelsea suffer fresh injury blow

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen was substituted after suffering an injury in the first half of Denmark under-21s' game against Iceland.

The 22-year-old, who joined in a £20m deal from Villarreal in July, was replaced at half-time of Tuesday's game after colliding with a team-mate in the first half of his team's 2-0 win.

Jorgensen, who is yet to feature in the Premier League for Enzo Maresca's side but has played in the Conference League and Carabao Cup, was attempting to clear the ball before suffering the injury scare.

FL says: It remains to be seen how serious the issue is, but Jorgensen will now return to West London to reunite with his Chelsea team-mates ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool.

But if he is to join Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella on the bench, it will have little bearing on Maresca's side seeing as though the Dane is yet to play in the Premier League for the Blues.

Tuchel set for return to management

Thomas Tuchel has reportedly agreed to become the next manager of England.

On Tuesday night, reports in the national press claimed the former and Bayern Munich manager has agreed an 18-moth a deal with the Football Association to become the third non-British coach to oversee the Three Lions.

It will be Tuchel's first job in England since leaving Chelsea in September 2022, where he won the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

It is claimed the German will begin his role with the Three Lions in January 2025.

FL says: Tuchel's apparent agreement to succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager comes at a time when he has been heavily linked with Manchester United.

If the FA are to beat United to Tuchel's services then supporters of the Three Lions should be getting excited about their prospects at the 2026 World Cup.

As displayed during his time at Chelsea - and even before that Paris Saint-Germain - the German's record in knockout football is pretty remarkable. It could prove to be the final piece of the jigsaw that England need to capitalise on one of the most exciting generations in the country's history.
