An attractive three-bed home in the heart of a picturesque English market town is heading to for just £200K - but there's a major catch.
The property, set in the centre of High Wycombe, , is a real find, boasting nearby historic landmarks, a sprawling countryside and an easy commute into . But its new owner will need to commit to tackling one major issue with its interior.
Despite the building's pleasant curb appeal, the inside tells a very different story - with the home's walls and ceilings covered in visible rotting - and offering no functioning or bathroom.
It is being described as "requiring modernisation", meaning potential buyers will have their work cut out for them.
The house is situated off Walton Drive, and close to shopping and travelling facilities in High Wycombe Town Centre, including High Wycombe Train Station. It's also close to Totteridge Recreation Ground - a large park and garden used by the local community.
The property will be sold via online auction with McHugh & Co as lot 24 on Tuesday October 29, 2024, as a freehold vacant possession. The listing reads: “A semi-detached house requiring modernisation with accommodation arranged on two floors.
“Plans have been drawn up for a scheme to create a Six Unit HMO. Copies of the proposed plans are available in the legal pack. McHugh & Co make no representations or warranties with regard to this scheme and/or the validity of the aforementioned plans.
It adds: “Buyers must rely on their own enquiries with regard to any development potential, permissions required and any previous planning history in respect of this lot.”
Reddit users took to an online forum after seeing the property, with one user who shared the listing simply writing: “Nice outside hiding the horror. Outside looks presentable, yet the inside is so not. How does a house end up like this?” Another commenter responded: “A bit of an understatement I would suggest!”
A third said: “It looks like one of those houses on ‘Hoarders’ - this must be what the houses look like when they finally empty them. I can’t even imagine the work it must’ve taken to empty the place.”
