He said that in his opinion, she hadn't spent the at her disposal well. Mark told his co-star: "I don't know what to say... so you bought a load of model railway books, you bought a pen... I didn't like it. And, a reproduction fan. For £172 you should be ashamed of yourself. For that amount of money you could have done so well."

Catherine wasn't happy with the critique and responded to it by playfully showing Mark. And as he tried to console her, she said: "Get your hands off." Speaking to the camera afterwards, Catherine expressed her feelings, saying: "Wasn't he horrid?"

She added: "I don't think that was very nice at all. He wasn't complimentary about any of my items. He said 'He thought I should be ashamed of myself', which was a bit of a cutting remark." Mark, however, remained unapologetic, admitting: "I think she's a bit mad at me because I wasn't overly enthusiastic about some of the items she bought. But, I'm not sorry."

Despite Mark's criticism, Catherine had the last laugh as her finds proved successful at the auction. It comes after Catherine was left emotional upon discovering the astonishing amount of money a World War One periscope fetched at auction.

During an auction segment on the One programme, the auctioneer announced: "I've got lots of interest on this WW1 antique. At £220, looking for £240 on the phone. £240, £260 is with me, £280. £300 is with me." As the bidding war escalated, Catherine could hardly believe her eyes. "I can't believe this," she confessed to the cameras.

In the episode, from 2017, the pair's car broke down and Mark accused Catherine of trying to "sabotage" him, before leaving his co-star while filming. The episode played out with the voiceover, Tim Wonnacott, saying: "Mark and Catherine are heading 62 miles North West to the small town of Kilbirnie in North Ayrshire, but things aren't going quite to plan."

Catherine sighed, holding her head in her hands, saying: "I just don't know. I really don't know." Mark hit back at his fellow antiques expert, sarcastically jibing: "Well, thank you very much Catherine." Catherine replied: "Oh look, it’s not my fault. I don’t know what's happened." Mark said back: "No, no, listen. You're a saboteur. I've now got to struggle up to my shop."

She said back: "Mark, it's 300 yards. It's not far. It's hardly a struggle." Mark swiped: "Catherine, Catherine, this is just the beginning of the week. I’m going to remember this." While Mark walked off, Catherine yelled: "So you're just going to leave me and abandon me in the middle of nowhere with this car?"

Tim narrated: "Oh crikey. With a full day of shopping ahead of him, Mark's having to hot foot it up to the working farm which houses stirrup cup antiques. While poor Catherine’s left to sort out the engine."
